Geography
Putlacheruvu village is geographically divided in to three regions called as Krishnapuram, Ramapuram and Putlacheruvu but generally accepted and called as one village Putlacheruvu.
Center of Attraction
The center attraction of this village is big 7.5 acears of fresh drinking water lake with a Nandi foundation water treatment plant and a 12 feet big statue of Y.S Rajashaker Reddy the former ex chief minister of Andhra Pradesh at the south end of the lake.
History
The word Putlacheruvu originated from the early people those who lived hear from centuries. When the fist people arrived this place it's a black muddy full of rich fertile land with small lakes, ponds, coconut trees, snakes and ant hills which are seen every where. So people those who first lived hear given this place a very natural folk name "Puttalu+ Cherevu" now known as Putlacheruvu.
Soil
The soil hear is very rich and suitable for all type of crops specially for paddy, --- and coconut and this village is very near by the famous lake: The one and only big fresh water lake in INDIA "Kolleru Lake" just a 6 km away.
Population
It consist of 1200 homes with over 2500 people living in this village doing various jobs. This village is purely depended on cultivation of paddy fields and maintaining fish tanks but from 2007 this village fields are completely converted in to new fish tanks because of good income from the business.
Transport
Putlacheruvu rail station is one of the good attractive places to be seen with pleasant lush green trees and fresh air blowing from the lakes. This village is connected with both road and rail. The nearest big town is Gudivada with Road(21 km) and Rail/Train (16 km) connected.
Site Seeing Places
The most important seeing places of this village are the three big water cannels of krishna river on both the ends of the village where one is the drinking water cannel and the other two are the sewage cannels usually used for pumping water for Fish tanks.
Religions
The majority of the people in this village are Hindus(97%) and reast of them are converted Christians(2%) and Muslims(1%). As a total this village consist of one Ganesh Temple, Two Sri Rama Temples, one Shirdi sai baba temple, two Hunuman temples, two Gangallama temples, two Church's and no Muslim mosques still at.
Market
There is a milk booth(Palla Kendram) collecting milk from the villagers. Every Sunday the village center will be changed in to non-veg market, selling fresh fish, chicken and mutton meat.
Festivals
The big festivals celebrated hear is Sankranthi, Dasara Navaratrullu, Vinayakachavathi, Hanuman Jayanthi, Sri Rama Navami, Shivarathri and Deepavali etc...
Education
There is a government school in the center of this village from LKG to Xth class. Most of the graduates from this village are now well settled in different parts of the country and the majority of people are in Hyderabad the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
Birds & Animals
The most visible birds are parrots, sparrows, snake birds, Mina's and the bad black crow's can be seen all over the village. In the evenings and early morning you can see a big line formation of this snake birds in a large migrations.
